NHS staff join the conversation.
Isn't it great when something unexpected happens? Today we had an opinion from a member if staff at Whittington Hospital who was commenting on two previous postings about their hospital. Both the postings refered to the poor quality of food and the member of staff posted some thoughtful and reflective comments.
The Trust itself had not replied but it was great - probably much better! - to have a direct comment from somebody who is clearly living the daily struggle of trying to provide great care amidst the hurly-burly of NHS life at the Whittington.
Of course it provoked a debate at our daily editorial meeting:
Should Trust management be the only ones with a right to post replies and responses?
And we're Patient Opinion, not Staff Opinion - so should we give staff airtime?
But having tossed it around the decision was very clear - staff obviously have some really worthwhile thoughts, suggestions and comments. And conversations between staff and patients can only be a good thing.
